David Knezek, Chief Deputy Director for Administration
David Knezek is the Chief Deputy Director for Administration at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. He oversees External Relations and Communications, Financial Operations Administration, Legislative Services, Legal Affairs, Policy and Planning, Strategic Integration, Organizational Services, Workforce Engagement and Community and Faith Engagement.
Previously he was the Director of Legislative Affairs with the Michigan Department of Attorney General. Prior to joining civil service, Knezek was an elected member of the Michigan House of Representatives and Michigan Senate, where he served on the Health Policy Committee throughout his time in office. He also served our country as a United States Marine and completed two tours of duty in Iraq as a scout sniper platoon member.
Knezek is an active member of the Dearborn Heights community. He is a former board member of Starfish Family Services in Inkster, a current board member and past board chair of the University of Michigan-Dearborn Alumni Society Board, a Silver Life Member of the Detroit Branch NAACP, and a member of the Redford Township Jaycees and Dearborn Heights Goodfellows.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Next year, he will earn his Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
