  • Blueprint for System Reconfiguration: The Blueprint is comprised of research and evidence-based effective practices that guide school and district leaders in the installation of systems and routines that increase the instructional and leadership capacity of adults and positively affect student outcomes.   • Early Warning Intervention and Monitoring System (EWIMS): EWIMS is a data-driven, decision-making process that helps educators systematically identify students who are showing signs that they are at risk of dropping out of school, examine the underlying causes of risk, match students' needs to interventions, and then monitor students' progress and the success of those interventions. Information on EWIMS can be found on the MDE's EWIMS webpage (www.mi.gov/mde-ewims).

  • Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS): MTSS is a framework to provide all students with opportunities to succeed academically and behaviorally in school, focusing on providing high quality instruction and interventions matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals.   • School Improvement Grants Section 1003(g): New SIG awards were discontinued with the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015. Active grantees were allowed to continue the program through the end of their respective grant periods. The SIG program will cease altogether on September 30, 2021. Information on SIG awards can be found on the MDE SIG webpage (www.mi.gov/sig).
