LM will announce availability of the Advanced Workshop Pathway via Michlib-L and to library directors in the late 2021.
The Advanced Director Workshop, a previously in-person training event held annually in September, is now a self-paced, online course called "Pathway For Advanced Directors in Michigan Public Libraries". The new virtual content is accessed within the Library of Michigan's Niche Staff Skills Academy. The pathway consists of several courses taking approximately 8 hours to complete. The pathway content provides new library directors with an introduction to concepts and information to support their work as administrators of public libraries.
Completion of the online pathway is necessary for director certification as part of the qualification criteria for State Aid to Public Libraries. All library directors are welcome to complete portions or all of the content while it is a requirement for Class 4, 5, and 6 directors to complete the entire pathway within two years of their initial appointment.
The Advanced Director Workshop is made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Visit the New Director Workshop page for details about that event.
