​​USE THE MICHIGAN WEB ACCOUNT MANAGER (MIWAM) - Sign up for an online account. Perform routine transactions such as filing claims, certifying for benefits, viewing correspondence, and updating your unemployment claim information online. The system is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.


File Online - You may apply for unemployment benefits online via the Michigan Web Account Manager. Click here for more information on internet filed claims or to get started.

File by Phone - You can file for unemployment benefits by telephone from anywhere in Michigan and North America.  The state's unemployment insurance program has established a special toll-free telephone number for you to use in filing a new claim or reopening an established claim.  Click here for more information on telephone filed claims.

Certify for Benefits-  You must report (certify) once every two weeks to claim your unemployment benefits. The preferred method is to certify online through MiWAM. An alternative method is to certify by phone through MARVIN. Contact MARIVN, Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) during your reporting week. Click here for more information on MARVIN.
