JMG offers a comprehensive and collective approach to increasing the state’s graduation and youth employment rates. Through proven education and employment-related solutions, they ensure young people ages 14-25 earn their high school diploma, enter employment, and begin down the pathway towards a meaningful career.

The focus on winning as citizens was highlighted on February 28, 2019 at the annual JMG Legislative Day, as young people from the program met with local representatives from the Michigan House and Senate to discuss issues in their district.  Over 125 students, from across the state, participated in this important event. The Talent Investment Agency is a key supporter and partner of the JMG program.

Jobs for Michigan's Graduates (JMG) is a state-based affiliate of the national Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) organization, one of the largest and most successful school-to-work systems for at-risk and disadvantaged young people in the U.S. The ultimate objective of JAG programming is to help disadvantaged youth secure a quality job that will lead to a meaningful and sustainable career. To achieve this objective, JMG focuses on supporting students in an in-school and out-of-school context emphasizing dropout prevention, dropout recovery and school-to-career transition.

Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates equips young people with the skills needed to overcome barriers and ensure Michigan’s youth win in education, employment, and in life.  Operating across 208 Michigan cities, JMG works with nearly 3,000 young people annually.

During the event, Tianna Carr, a JMG student from Pershing High School in Detroit, shared her excitement about the day.

“It was great to talk with Senator Adam Hollier (D-Detroit), and share some of the challenges that my friends and I are facing,” Carr said.  “I am looking forward to sharing my experience with friends and family back home.”
