    Customers can make make an appointment up to six months in advance or for the next day.

    Appointments from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. can be booked up to six months early. Appointments from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. are reserved for customers to book one day in advance.

    Morning appointments open for booking at 8 a.m. EST the previous day. Afternoon appointments open for booking at noon EST the previous day. Monday appointments open for booking Friday.

    Many transactions can be completed from home by mail or using online services. Vehicle registration tabs can be printed immediately at any of our self-service stations.

Disability Parking

    PlacardsA person with a qualifying disability is eligible for a disability license plate or parking placard. To obtain a disability plate or placard, Michigan law requires that people be blind or have any condition that significantly limits their ability to walk or requires a wheelchair, walker, crutch or other assistive device.

    In the Department of State License Plate Store, you'll find a showcase of attractive license plates that should please just about anyone.

    "Plate It Your Way" is an online service that allows you to check for the availability of a personalized plate before you visit a branch office.

    The License Plate Store also provides information about disability plates and parking placards as well as historical and collector plates.
