Financial and Medical Support (continued)

One of a parent's most important responsibilities is providing financial support for his/her child. In Michigan, the family court (hereafter referred to as "the court") generally orders the non-custodial parent to pay child support.

The court sets the amount of child support, medical support, and child care the parent must provide. The court also provides mediation services for those parents who have difficulty communicating with each other on parenting time issues.
