The Psychology of Driving With Intention

The Michigan State Police Precision Driving Unit in conjunction with the Office of Behavioral Sciences will be hosting a three-day Psychology of Driving With Intention training. This training is designed for the officer who has been involved in crashes due to poor situational decision making. The approach of this training will be to educate the officer on strategies which use intentional objective thought in their decision-making vs. adrenaline or emotion-based thoughts. The training will include classroom instruction and a driving skills refresher.

The following topics will be covered during the course:

  • Below 100
  • Driving with Intention
  • Driving Skills Refresher
  • Skid Control
  • Performance Driving

Students will be required to bring the UD-10 of their at fault crash and video if available.
