$25 Million in State Grant Funding Awarded to Support School Safety Initiatives in Michigan

The Michigan State Police (MSP) today announced that 135 public school districts, 66 non-public schools, 20 public charter schools and nine intermediate school districts / regional educational service agencies will receive $25 million in state grants from the 2019 Competitive School Safety Grant Program to improve the safety and security of students, staff and school buildings through the purchase of technology and equipment.

Statewide Tornado Drill Scheduled for March 27; Severe Weather Awareness Week is March 24-30

With Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declaring March 24-30 as Michigan’s Severe Weather Awareness Week, the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) is calling on residents to take action by participating in a voluntary statewide tornado drill at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27.
