Violent Crime Down in Detroit, Flint, and Saginaw; FBI Releases Annual Crime Report

Violent crime decreased by double digits in 2015 in the cities of Detroit, Flint and Saginaw, according to the FBI’s annual crime report released today that includes the offenses of murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

New Public Threat Alert System Now Operational

Effective today, the threat alert system created by Public Act 235 of 2016 is operational. This new alerting system can be used in cases where there is a public threat, which is defined as a clear, present, persistent, ongoing and random threat to public safety.

Detective Sergeants Receive Meritorious Service Award

At a special ceremony today in Lansing, Michigan State Police (MSP) Director Col. Kriste Kibbey Etue presented D/Sgt. Mark Harris of the Gaylord Post and D/Sgt. Mark Miller of the Cadillac Post with the MSP Meritorious Service Award for their professionalism and diligence and for going beyond what is typically expected of most law enforcement officers.
