MSP Statement on the Guilty Verdict in Trial of Mark Bessner

Today, former trooper Mark Bessner was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Damon Grimes of Detroit. The Michigan State Police appreciates the careful deliberation of the men and women of the jury and we are grateful to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for their dedication to justice. We send our sincere condolences to the family, friends and supporters of Damon Grimes.

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week Recognizes Michigan's Emergency Telecommunicators

The State 911 Committee gives acknowledgement to Michigan telecommunicators and their vital contributions to public safety. In 1991, the United States Congress designated the second week in April, this year April 14-20, 2019, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. In Michigan, the State 911 Committee is privileged to honor the men and women who serve in this role to protect the citizens of our Great Lakes State.
