Civilian of the Year
Ms. Cindy Homant of the State 911 Administrative Office was named Civilian of the Year.
The MSP Civilian of the Year Award is named in honor of the late Floyd R. Bell Jr., a 42-year employee of the MSP, who continuously demonstrated commitment and dedication to the department and his community.
“Ms. Homant is well known and respected within the MSP,” said Colonel Gasper. “Even when facing a potentially life-threatening cancer diagnosis, Ms. Homant rarely missed work and has since used her personal experience to connect with coworkers in similar situations. Her persistence and willingness to help however needed makes her an obvious choice for the Civilian of the Year Award.”
Homant is the primary organizer of the State 911 Office’s Annual Technical Forum, as well as a golf outing that benefits the Fallen Trooper Memorial and MSP Museum & Learning Center.
Her generosity extends to her community too. Homant spearheaded her office’s community outreach during the holidays, collecting and distributing personal care items for chemotherapy patients. At church, she distributes food to those in need, assists with special events and cares for children during church services.
Homant joined the MSP in 2003. She currently serves as an analyst for the State 911 Administrative Office in Dimondale.
