MDOT and Senior Mobility

  • By 2030, one in five Americans will be 65 or older. The number of older drivers in the United States is expected to double over the next 30 years. Older drivers deserve special attention; as a group, they have reduced visual sharpness, poorer nighttime vision, and slower reaction times. The design of roads, signs, and traffic signals can be improved to better meet the aging population's needs.

MDOT is committed to supporting and funding programs that will keep Michigan's seniors mobile.
