Sexually Transmitted Infections

Protect Yourself from Sexually Transmitted Infections

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are spread by unprotected sex or contact with skin, bodily fluids, or sores of an infected person. Your family planning provider can help you protect yourself and your partner from getting and spreading STIs.

  • Using condoms can protect you from getting STIs

  • Vaccination can prevent some types of human papillomavirus (HPV), and protect you from cancer caused by these types of HPV

  • Your family planning provider can test for STIs, and treat you and your partner
