MOSAIC Hospital-Led Emergency Medical Services Stroke Education Project
As part of this project, MOSAIC offered up to $64,000 in grants to participating hospitals for the development and implementation of EMS-focused stroke education programs based on evidence‐based strategies. Individual hospital awards ranged from $2,000 to $8,000, and funded hospitals that worked together were able to combine grant awards. Priority consideration was given to hospital teams that incorporated the use of the Get-with-the Guidelines (GWTG) Special Initiatives EMS Tab and that collaborated with other hospitals and combined resources to implement EMS education efforts.
American CME Stroke EMS Continuing Education Courses
American CME has three free continuing education courses designed for medical first responders (MFRs), emergency medical technicians (EMTs), and paramedics. The video-based productions focus on stroke care and assessment in order to optimize care and patient outcomes in the field. All of the courses are offered to pre-hospital emergency medical professionals at no cost. They include:
- Stroke: Anatomy and Pathophysiology (0.5 credits);
- Stroke: EMS Transport Options (0.5 credits); and
- Stroke: A New Standard of Care for Large Vessel Occlusions (0.5 credits).
