Tobacco Treatment Specialists Can Help You Quit

View map full size

About this map: The MDHHS Tobacco Section and HIV Care and Prevention Section are working together to achieve the goals of the Tobacco Use Reduction in People Living with HIV project. Counselors who have completed training and earned the status of either Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) or Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist (CTTS) are an important part of that work.

MDHHS staff are working to ensure that at least one staffer from each participating HIV/AIDS service organization (ASO) is trained to provide optimal tobacco dependence treatment counseling and support for PLWH who want to quit tobacco.

Both the map above and the text-based directory below provide the locations and contact information for all TTS and CTTS professionals working in Michigan. These professionals have the training, knowledge and skills to help PLWH quit the tobacco habit, and their services are free and confidential.

Please Note: Clicking on the name of a TTS or a CTTS in the following list will open a new page showing contact information for that person.

TTS = Tobacco Treatment Specialist
A Tobacco Treatment Specialist has completed specialized tobacco treatment training and demonstrated his or her knowledge by successfully passing the certified clinical training program exams.

CTTS = Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist
In addition to completing the requirements for a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist has successfully completed the necessary tobacco cessation counseling hours and applied for certification. Upon receiving full certification, CTTSs are able to bill client insurance plans that cover tobacco treatment for their tobacco cessation counseling services.

Please Note: All Tobacco Treatment Specialists and Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists in Michigan will provide tobacco cessation counseling services to any eligible client who applies, whether or not the client has insurance coverage for tobacco cessation services.
