Saginaw

Saginaw County was organized in 1835 from unorganized territory.  The boundary between Saginaw and Bay counties were adjusted in 1875 and 1881.  The most likely origin of the county name is from the Ojibwe words for “place of the outlet” from sag (opening) and ong (place of).

The county seat is Saginaw. The county is bordered by Bay, Tuscola, Genesee, Shiawassee, Gratiot and Midland counties.
