Research Services:

The State Law Library provides nonpartisan, confidential research services for the Michigan Legislature and state government. We utilize materials from the Library of Michigan's Law, Michigan, and State and Federal Documents Collections to assist state employees with work-related questions. Among the electronic services used are Lexis, Westlaw, and HeinOnline (also freely available to all users who come into the Law Library).

Send your requests or questions to lmlawlib@michigan.gov.  You will receive an answer by phone or email, usually within 24 hours (weekends and holidays excluded).

If you need immediate assistance, the Library of Michigan's main phone line is open from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., M -F, call 517-335-1477. Also, many research databases are available to state employees from their desktops with a Library of Michigan library card and PIN. Please see our website for more information.

Training Sessions:

Librarians are available to assist you in working more effectively with the Library of Michigan's resources. Contact us at 517-335-1480 or lmlawlib@michigan.gov to arrange for individual or group tours and training sessions. Please allow at least one week's notice to accommodate for scheduling.
