Agency Communication Regarding Insurers with a Service Company or Third Party as Claims Administrator
Effective February 1, 2013, when claim filings made with the Agency indicate insurance coverage is in place (regardless of deductible) for an employer, the carrier listed on the Agency form will be the primary point of contact. The Agency will not send letters or notices to the service company or third party handler if one is listed on the Agency form. The insurer of record writing the policy covering the alleged date of injury will be responsible to see that all issues related to the claim or Agency correspondence are resolved timely and appropriately in accordance with the Michigan Workers' Disability Compensation Act and the carrier's approval to transact the business of workers' compensation insurance in Michigan.
Agency form WC-701 (Rev. 7/12) has been modified to reflect this change. Please note the change to box 19 and the corresponding instructions for the proper completion of this form. Form WC-701 may be reviewed on the Agency website under the Forms tab.
