MPSC meeting this week includes MISO presentation on spring energy outlook, storage proposal, polar vortex

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Public Service Commission at its meeting this week will hear a presentation on regional energy issues given by a representative of the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, the organization that manages the electric grid across Michigan, the central United States, and part of Canada.

Melissa Seymour, MISO’s executive director of customer and state affairs in the Central Region, on Thursday will discuss the region’s spring power outlook; MISO’s proposal to integrate energy storage into wholesale markets; MISO’s annual planning resource auction, a market mechanism for utilities to buy and sell energy capacity; and the grid’s performance during this past winter’s polar vortex.

The MPSC’s regular meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. April 18, at its offices at 7109 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing.
