November 22, 2013 - Just in time for tonight’s lighting of the state holiday tree, the Michigan Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) announced that the 2013 “Friends of the Capitol” holiday ornament is now available. The limited-edition state holiday ornaments are on sale for $20.00 at “Capitol Concessions” inside the State Capitol Building and at the BSBP’s office in the Victor Office Center on 201 N. Washington Square in Lansing.
State employees can also purchase the ornaments at concession locations inside these state government buildings:
This marks the 10-year anniversary of the official state holiday ornament previously sold by the Friends of the Capitol organization beginning in 2003.
“Michigan citizens can continue to honor the historical importance of the Capitol Building through these commemorative ornaments. This long-standing and popular tradition celebrates one of our state’s beautiful landmarks,” said Carol Viventi, Secretary of the Michigan Senate.
Proceeds from the ornaments will be used to assist BSBP educational and training programs including its Vocational Rehabilitation Program that helps blind citizens become employed in a career that suits their current or potential abilities. The program provides diagnostic evaluations, vocational counseling, and training in skills of blindness at no cost.
