MPSC Approves Five Settlement Agreements Reconciling 2012 Energy Optimization Costs and Revenues, Revises Surcharges for Electric and Natural Gas Utilities

July 29, 2013 - The Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today approved five settlement agreements reconciling the 2012 energy optimization (EO) costs and revenues and revising the EO surcharges for five Michigan electric and natural gas utilities.

 

Under the terms of the settlement in Case Nos. U-17284 and U-17291 Northern States Power Company residential customers using 500 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will see an increase of 27 cents on their monthly bill; and natural gas customers using 100 therms a month will see an increase of 15 cents on their monthly bill. The revised surcharges take effect Aug. 1. The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.

 

Under the terms of the settlement in Case No. 17285, Upper Peninsula Power Company residential customers using 500 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will see an increase of 30 cents on their monthly bill, effective Aug. 1. The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.

 

Under the terms of the settlement in Case Nos. U-17286 and U-17293, Wisconsin Public Service Corporation residential customers using 100 therms of natural gas per month will see an increase of 17 cents on their monthly bill, effective Sept. 1. The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.

 

Under the terms of the settlement in Case Nos. U-17290, Michigan Gas Utilities Corporation residential customers using 100 ccf of natural gas will see a decrease of 23 cents on their monthly bill, effective Aug. 1. The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.

 

Under the terms of the settlement in Case No. U-17292, SEMCO Energy Gas Company residential customers using 100 ccf of natural gas per month will see a decrease of 59 cents on their monthly bill, effective Aug. 1. The utility and the MPSC staff participated in the settlement.

 

The MPSC is an agency within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
