July 18, 2013 - The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has immediately suspended the Michigan license to practice as a pharmacist of Richard L. Wallsten, R.Ph., of Saint Joseph, Michigan based on his misdemeanor conviction in the Fifth Judicial District Court, Berrien County, Michigan.
On February 5, 2013, Wallsten was convicted of Use Narcotic or Cocaine, a misdemeanor. Wallsten was ordered to pay fines and costs or serve 30 days in jail.
On July 12, 2013, LARA issued an order summarily suspending Wallsten's license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional's license upon the conviction of a misdemeanor involving the illegal delivery, possession or use of a controlled substance.
