WHEREAS, reinforced concrete pipe and precast are of vital importance to sustainable communities and to the health, safety and well-being of the people of Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, such reinforced concrete pipe and precast products and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of the concrete pipe and precast industry manufacturers, professionals, engineers, managers and employees, who are responsible for and must design, manufacture, distribute, educate, and supply precast concrete pipe and precast to public and private owners. They then build, design and maintain our transportation infrastructure, water supply, water treatment systems, solid waste systems, and other structures and facilities essential to serving our residents; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest of the citizens, civic leaders and children in the United States of America to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive interest in the importance of the reinforced concrete pipe and precast industry in their respective communities; and,
WHEREAS, the year 2016 marks the 102nd year of the American Concrete Pipe Association and the second year of National Concrete Pipe Week sponsored by the American Concrete Pipe Association; and,
WHEREAS, during this week we urge people to join with representatives of the Concrete Pipe Association of Michigan in activities and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our concrete pipe and precast industry manufacturers, professionals, engineers, managers, and employees and to recognize the substantial contributions they have made to our national health, safety, welfare, and quality of life;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim August 14-20, 2016 as Concrete Pipe Week in Michigan.
