WHEREAS, Michigan’s lakes, streams, rolling farmland and countless natural resources contribute to the quality of life and environment our state provides for its people; and,
WHEREAS, maintaining Michigan’s natural beauty is no easy task, and we recognize the numerous groups, organizations and volunteers that strive continually to keep litter off of our streets, plant trees and flowers, renovate and paint buildings and contribute to the overall enrichment of our state; and,
WHEREAS, from picking up litter off of the sidewalks to personal spring cleaning, it is important for everyone to play an active role in protecting and preserving our great state for generations to come; and,
WHEREAS, during the months of April and May we join with Keep Michigan Beautiful to encourage residents to participate in personal or community projects to clean up and maintain the beauty of our Great Lakes state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim April 2016 and May 2016 as Michigan Clean Up Days.
