WHEREAS, more than 70 percent of young Americans envision starting a business or doing something entrepreneurial as adults; and,
WHEREAS, entrepreneurship is critical to success in the workplace and in communities as it brings ideas, creativity, and innovation to life and drives economic growth on local, state, and national levels; and,
WHEREAS, entrepreneurship encourages job creation and is a vital part of Michigan's reinvention and continued growth; and,
WHEREAS, while we work towards a better Michigan, we encourage youth and all citizens throughout the state to explore innovative ways in which entrepreneurship education can bring together the core academic, technical, and problem-solving skills essential for the success of our state's future entrepreneurs; and,
WHEREAS, the National Governors Association encourages connecting education to economic growth industries, recognizing that entrepreneurship and small business creation are the growth engines of any economy;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim February 20-27, 2016 as Entrepreneurship Week in Michigan.
