WHEREAS, Working with Michigan's business community, chambers of commerce advance the civic, economic, industrial, professional, social and cultural systems of our state; and,
WHEREAS, Chambers of commerce are supported by the financial and volunteer resources of over 250,000 small- and medium-sized businesses located and operating in the state of Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, For over 100 years, chambers of commerce have been contributing to the protection of commerce and Michigan's business climate, which began with the incorporation of the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce; and,
WHEREAS, The Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals (MACP) works to promote excellence and high ethical standards for chambers of commerce through education, information and networking opportunities; and,
WHEREAS, during this month we recognize the chambers of commerce of Michigan and their many dedicated volunteers for their steadfast work on behalf and in support of our state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2014 as Chamber of Commerce Month in Michigan.
