Governor Granholm Re-Appoints Two to Michigan Appellate Defender Commission

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following two re-appointments to the Michigan Appellate Defender Commission.  The State Bar of Michigan made the nominations.  The commission is responsible for developing a system of appellate defense services for those who can afford no other representation.  They also develop a set of minimum standards to which those services must conform. 

Oliver Mitchell, of Franklin, is assistant general counsel for Ford Motor Company.  He is re-appointed for a term expiring May 24, 2007.

Edward Smith Scott, of Detroit, is currently a member of the law firm of Dickinson Wright.  He is re-appointed for a term expiring May 24, 2007.

These appointments are not subject to advice and consent of the Senate.
