The Urban and Community Forestry Program brings the benefits of trees to Michigan communities through planning and partnership. We assist with forest management activities, policy development and education. The program is funded through the USDA Forest Service and is advised by a volunteer Urban and Community Forestry Council that promotes conservation and maintenance of our state’s urban forests.

Arbor Day
Arbor Day is the celebration of trees and their importance in our lives; it is also a time to think about what we can do for trees and the earth. Celebrate Arbor Day every year on the last Friday in April. Arbor Day 2021 will be Friday, April 30.
Healthy natural resources are vital for vibrant communities. Trees in our backyards, neighborhoods, cities, farms and forests connect us to our past and to our future.
To get involved or plan your own celebration of trees, contact the Michigan Arbor Day Alliance online or by calling 517-543-5848, ext. 5. To learn more about Arbor Day, get information about caring for trees and more, visit the Arbor Day Foundation website.
Tree City USA
The Arbor Day Foundation's Tree City USA program has been greening cities and towns across America since 1976. It is a nationwide movement that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees.
Every year, thousands of cities, campuses and utilities are recognized for their commitment to quality tree care and sustainable urban forest management.
