Purchasers are required to maintain certification as defined by the Michigan Sustainable Forestry Initiative or the Wisconsin Forest Industry Safety and Training Alliance.

New Timber Cruising Program
The Michigan DNR is implementing new timber cruising methods for timber sale preparation and contracting beginning in fall 2020. Training sessions will be provided in the new cruise methods. These trainings will be required for all DNR-certified timber sale preparation contractors.
