Partners in Lake Sturgeon Restoration Efforts

The lake sturgeon is on Michigan's Threatened Species list, and much work is being done to restore the state's lake sturgeon population. This work includes rearing and stocking and habitat efforts - all of which couldn't be done without the support of various partners.

Many partners work to secure funding and resources to help make restoration possible. They include the DNR, the Black Lake and Kalamazoo River chapters of Sturgeon For Tomorrow, the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians, the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe), the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community, Michigan State University, Fox River Green Bay Natural Resource Trustee Council, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Forest Service.
