Example of a Japanese stitching and binding technique called Shibori

NOTICE: Please note date has been updated to July 28, 2018.

Join Textile Artist Heidi Bukoski to create an attractive sampler piece using shibori, a stitching and binding technique that the Japanese have used for nearly 1000 years. Heidi will show you how to have fun using a traditional indigo dye bath with high quality cotton fabric to learn the basics and then create another piece using your own design.

Students need to bring: a seam ripper and/or very sharp, pointed small scissors; a thimble (if you use one); rubber gloves for dyeing; an old towel and your reading glasses if needed. Please bring a lunch.

The cost of the class is $80.00. This class has a maximum of 15 students. A minimum of 5 students need to be registered by Saturday, July 21 in order to hold the class. To register for this class or for more information about Friends of the Porkies or the Folk School, visit http://www.porkies.org, call 906-884-7663 or email friendsofporkies@gmail.com.
