Michigan is nationally known as a great upland bird hunting destination, ranking high in the nation for both ruffed grouse and woodcock harvest.  With millions of acres of public land to explore, how do you get started in your adventure?

Check out Michigan’s GEMS (grouse enhanced management sites) for premier bird hunting locations across northern Michigan.  Hunter walking trails give added comfort to those getting out for their first time or those with mobility challenges.  GEMS have parking lots with local area information available, giving you confidence about the new location.

This website includes details and pictures for each of site, including information about businesses that support GEMS by providing great discounts to hunters who help to expand local economies with every visit.  Just show your base license to any participating business to receive their discount.

GEMS are also great spring and summer birding locations!
